Let’s immediately get to the good stuff okay? I wrapped up an epic makeover for my basement bathroom and guys, I. Am. In. Love.
When I was presented with the opportunity to use Marazzi EpicClean Antibacterial tile for any project in my home, I immediately jumped at the chance to give the bathroom in my basement a fresh new look. As we continue to spread out and use more areas of the house, the bathroom will begin to see a lot of use as the basement will be the primary entertainment zone for my roommates (aka my kids) and their friends.
So let’s back up and start at the beginning. We are extremely fortunate to have a full functioning bathroom in the basement. In total, my 1400 sq ft townhome has three full baths and a powder room. I mean, I hit the bathroom lottery if you ask me. So while the main bathrooms on the bedroom level get used everyday, we’ve yet to have had the opportunity to really utilize the basement space. However, with my roommates aka the kids getting older and wanting to have friends over more often, I’ve turned my focus into making the basement a family room for lounging and game play and of course with all that action we need a bathroom that is functional and can meet the demands of daily use.
The bathroom has not been touched since the 90’s and it showed. Besides the toilet that constantly ran and the leaky faucet, the previous owner laid down peel and stick vinyl tiles on top of sheet laminate flooring. Also, the bathroom is flat out boring. Just a plain white box. And that’s no fun!
I knew I wanted to go wild and moody! Bathrooms are the perfect space for something fun and exciting and to experiment with design choices. The large tile format of the Marazzi EpicClean tile with the beautiful tan and brown variations of veining that resembles marble was the jump off point for the rest of the design concept.
Let’s pause here for a moment and talk about the tile. This is a special tile y'all. With antimicrobial features, it works around the clock to fight off yucky bacteria for the life of the tile offering 99% antimicrobial protection (in other words, it’s gonna help keep this bathroom clean!).
It's durable, waterproof, and scratch-resistant making it THE perfect flooring option for a bathroom. Once I began laying the tile, it instantly elevated the bathroom and I couldn’t have been happier with this product.
And can I tell y’all a little secret? This was the first time I have ever installed tile flooring! So it was an extra added bonus to use the Marazzi EpicClean tile since it would be easy to maintain and help keep the bathroom free from stain, odors, mold, and bacteria.
Once the tile was laid and I was able to add in all the other elements in the bathroom, I could not contain my excitement about how well it looked. Even without going wild on the walls with the green zebra wallpaper, the Marazzi EpicClean tile would still be a show-stopper in any space it is used in.
Now that the bathroom is complete, I can’t wait to get started on the other spaces in the bathroom to make this home truly work for my small family.
