2022 Home Project List

Happy New Year folks! Welcome to my 2022 home project list. The first time I made one of these lists for my home was last year and I can proudly share that I was able to cross-off almost everything I wanted to so in my home. There really is something about the power of writing things down to help you accomplish a goal.

So I am hoping to replicate that success by again by listing what I’d love to accomplish in 2022 for my home.

So let’s get into this shall we? In no particular order, here’s my list for the year:

Furnish and Style the Back Patio
Last summer on a very expensive whim (courtesy of my loving impulsive father) I gave my back patio an update with new hardscaping. Laying cement over half of my very tiny fenced-in backyard solved a host of problems for me that I’m very happy to no longer have to deal with like standing water, weeds growing wildly, and uneven pavers. So now its time to give the space a whole new look! I’m thinking of a backyard oasis that will function as a relaxing lounge space with comfortable seating and play space for Tucci. I’d also like to have a swing, a spot for a potting bench, and 2-3 standing garden planters.

Kid’s Bathroom Makeover
My daughter has been asking for a nice update to their bathroom for a while. This shouldn’t be too big of a project since it will only include getting a new vanity, mirror, light, updating the tile floors and other cosmetic updates.

Primary Bathroom Gut Renovation
While I thought that I would renovate my kitchen before my bathroom I’ve decided to proceed with the gut renovation of my bathroom. While my bathroom is really spacious, the space is just not very well utilized. Plus, the biggest challenge in this bathroom is the shower. It. Is. So. Small! It’s barely 3’ x 3’. It’s dark. And I can barely contain my bath products in it. Let me not forget to mention that shaving my legs in the bathroom takes a pure act of being a contortionist! So I plan to reduce my vanity size (it’s currently a double sink vanity) and extend the shower out another 12”. I’m also playing with the idea of adding a skylight to allow for more natural light.

Whole Home Smart Storage Solutions
The one thing I sorely need in my home is good storage solutions. Right now I feel like those things that need to be tucked away in a home are crammed in any nook and corner with no rhyme or reason. So this year I want to think strategically on creating storage that will maximize the little available space I have. This will include all of closet spaces, the pantry, coat closet, and adding storage solution for my vacuums, mop and bucket, brooms, etc.

I also hope to add shelving to the closet in my home office and update storage capacity in my basement.

Daughter Bedroom Makeover
It’s finally time to give my daughter the bedroom of her teen dreams. Right now she is fully into glam decor and while that’s not my style, I’m totally up for the challenge to create a room that brings a smile to her face that showcases her style while not being too trendy that she’ll outgrow it in a few years.

Focusing on the Details
I’ve never been too much focused on the details, however I want to change this. After viewing so many inspiring spaces in shelter mags, on Instagram, and Pinterest. I can now see that what really pulls spaces together are those finite details that at a quick glance can get overlooked. I’ve already started doing this somewhat by getting all new baseboards in the basement but I want to expand the focus to everything from updating the air vent covers, to switch plates, door trim, door hinges and knobs. This won’t be done all at one time as I’ll probably focus on light switches one month and update all of them and then move on to another detail. But hopefully by the end of the year, my home will look and feel more cohesive with updated finishing details that match the style of my home and aesthetic.

So there you go folks, my 2022 Home Project List! I hope you follow along on Instagram as I document the daily journey and come back to the blog for longer length details.
